A little bit about the 3Tequilas

Jose Trochez

Jose Trochez was born in Honduras. He arrived in the United States in 2000 and began his career in a Mexican restaurant in Roanoke, Virginia. He went from dishwasher to chef to assistant manager within the span of nine years.

In 2010 he moved to Virginia Beach where he spent his time with a thriving Mexican restaurant chain. While working there, he was given an opportunity to relocate to the Outer Banks to manage one of their branches.

Jose took the opportunity. After ten years as manager he decided he was ready to open his own restaurant and reached out to Carlos Angel and Carlos’ brother Chuy. Together, they found a promising place in the heart of the Outer Banks and opened 3 Tequilas Restaurant Mexicano on June 18th, 2021.

Jose has transitioned seamlessly into the Outer Banks lifestyle and you can find him at 3 Tequilas, interacting with customers and employees. His close relationships with his staff and customers alike set him apart from your average restaurant owner.

Carlos Angel

Carlos was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and came to the United States in 1989. His experience in Mexican restaurants across the USA is extensive. He started in 1989 at El Rodeo in Roanoke, Virginia, as a dishwasher. After only a year, he was promoted to a chef position, quickly advancing to partner at El Rodeo’s new location in Pennsylvania. He remained and contributed in that position for three years.

He loved El Rodeo, but in 1994 found himself presented with an opportunity. Roberto Angel, Carlo’s older brother and biggest inspiration, was ready to open his own Mexican Restaurant in the Outer Banks. This opportunity required a partner. The first person that came to mind? Carlos. Together, they opened La Fogata.

After 25 years with La Fogata and on the verge of retirement, Carlos was invited as a partner to open 3 Tequilas, and he couldn't reject such an opportunity.

Carlos believes in the American dream, and he is grateful and proud of his accomplishments.

Jesus Angel

Jesus Angel came to the United States in 1995 to help his brothers Carlos and Roberto Angel with their (at the time) newly premiered restaurant La Fogata. Jesus worked diligently for two years before becoming a waiter. Over the next eighteen years, with his customary hard work, he was prepared to buy his own restaurant. On his own, he decided to venture to Elizabeth City, NC and open El Parian. It has flourished in the area.

After 8 years, Angel's brother Carlos and his friend Jose Trochez introduced him to 3 Tequilas. He joined without a second thought.

His main contribution to being a restaurant owner is his delectable food . He is excited to grow his business even more as he focuses on the specifics of customer satisfaction. Above all, he values quality, and strives to maintain a remarkable standard. This is clear in all of his dishes. He is in high demand, managing a full schedule between 3 Tequilas and El Parian.

“I started like a buzzer and look at me. I own two restaurants. In this life, anything can be done when you put your mind on it.“

Whether you encounter these remarkable and hardworking individuals behind the bar, in the kitchen, or managing the establishment , running a restaurant is something they maintain a passion for. They love the United States, appreciate and use the opportunities presented to them, and take great pride in what they do!
